Hornsent Grandam Questline in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

In the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring, you'll encounter a unique NPC named Hornsent Grandam while exploring Belurat. To meet her, you must first acquire the Storeroom Key and unlock the Storeroom door. After your initial conversation, you can visit her a couple more times after defeating the Divine Beast Dancing Lion and Messmer the Impaler.

Note: Hornsent Grandam is different from Hornsent, another NPC you'll meet throughout the Realm of Shadow.

This guide will walk you through finding Hornsent Grandam and completing her questline.

Hornsent Grandam Location

You'll find Hornsent Grandam while exploring Belura. You'll need the Storeroom Key to meet her.

Hornsent Grandam First Meeting

Use the Storeroom Key to unlock a door south of the Small Private Altar Site of Grace. Inside, you'll meet Hornsent Grandam. At this point, there isn't much to do with her except enjoy her creatively insulting dialogue.

Return After Defeating the Divine Beast Dancing Lion

After defeating the Divine Beast Dancing Lion and obtaining the (ridiculous) Divine Beast Head helmet, return to Hornsent Grandam. Make sure to wear the helmet before talking to her again. You must do this before defeating Messmer the Impaler at Shadow Keep.

This time, she'll have new dialogue for you and reward you with the Watchful Spirit spell. Head back to the Site of Grace and return to her once more. She'll give you some Scorpion Stew.

Later, you’ll encounter Hornsent in his second location at the Highroad Cross Site of Grace. You can give him the Scorpion Stew for additional dialogue, though it doesn't seem to have any real effect.

You might notice that Hornsent Grandam asks you to take her son, presumably Hornsent, into battle with you. However, this doesn't appear to impact her questline.

Return (Again) After Defeating Messmer the Impaler

Once you’ve defeated Messmer the Impaler at Shadow Keep, return to Hornsent Grandam once more, with or without the helmet on. This time, she'll give you the Gourmet Scorpion Stew, which functions as a healing item that restores your health over time.

After this, she'll doze off, and you won't get anything else from her until after you've defeated the DLC's final boss.
